This seasons round of 16 was nothing but spectacular as we saw many new and shocking things like Chelsea getting knocked out and Schalke beating Real Madrid at the Bernabeu stadium. Also none of the English team made it to the round quarter final in 2014-15 UEFA Champions League. We saw many outstanding performances as well.

Here’s a best possible XI comprising of those top notch performers:

GK: Joe Hart (Manchester City)

Despite Manchester City not going through to the next round Joe Hart has made it to the best XI. His performance against Barcelona at the Nou Camp was godly as he made incredible 10 saves which was the best goalkeeping performance of this season also he was the reason why city didn’t lose the game with a comprehensive margin.

RB: Aymen Abdennour  (AS Monaco)

The 25 year old Tunisian Right Back gave a spectacular performance against Arsenal in both legs especially at the Emirates. He was the reason behind Monaco’s fluid attacking and well balanced defending. His performance in the 2nd leg where Monaco lost 2-0 was brilliant too.

CBS: Thiago Silva & David Luiz (PSG)

Th duo gave an outrageous performance versus Chelsea especially at the Stamford Bridge. Their top notch performance was the reason why PSG went through to the quarters as they also netted two of the most important PSG goals of the season at the bridge. Again they have proved why they are best in the center of the defense.

LB: Jerome Boateng (Bayern Munich)

Bayern went through to the next round and that too in style as their first leg was a shocker which ended 0-0 and the second leg was another trademark Bayern game where they thrashed Shaktar 7-0. Boateng played a huge role in this as his defending was brilliant and he also racked up a goal.

CM: Mario Suarez Mata (Atletico Madrid)

Atletico Madrid vs Bayer was the tightest fixture in the round of 16 as both the legs ended 1-0 with a victory for the home team. Mario Suarez played in both the legs and gave an outrageous performance also he scored the vital goal for Atletico at the Calderon.

CMS: Brahimi & Casemiro (FC Porto)

Porto’s whole journey in the Champions League has been brilliant till now and their best performance was versus Basel in the round of 16. This performance was a brilliant display of well implemented tactics and top class home and away strategy but the most important players during both the legs were the Real Mardid loanee Casemiro and the French midfielder Brahimi. These two were brilliant in all the departments as they gave a defensive stability and attacking surety to the team.

CAM: Lionel Messi (Barcelona)

Leo Messi currently the best player in the world and against Manchester City he proved why he will be the best for a long time. His performances in both the legs were top notch especially in the second leg where he easily bossed the whole Manchester City squad and he was brilliant with respect to every aspect of the game.

ST: Klaas Jan Hunteaar (Schalke)

The game between Schalke and Real was the biggest shocker as the Germans gave a tough fight to Real and the game ended 5-4 on aggregate. The best performer over the two legs was former Real Madrid man Klaas Jan Huntelaar as he racked up two goals at the Bernabeu. Despite being a forward Klaas tried his best in defense and made some vvital contributions.

ST: Carlos Tevez (Juventus)

Finally an Italian team has gone this far in the Champions League. Juventus versus Dortmund was another interesting fixture but the result was very shocking as it ended 5-1 on aggregate. Carlos Tevez was unarguably the best performer over the two legs as he netted 2 goals and assisted 1. He was brilliant in both the legs contributed in every department and earned the man of the match award.
