United losing battle for De Gea, replacement already eyed

Manchester United’s shot stopper, David de Gea once again proved his worth with a match winning performance against nemesis Liverpool on Sunday. It highlighted the qualities which made him such a big transfer target for the likes of Real Madrid.

The rumors have now intensified on the Spaniard leaving England at the end of the season and a possible replacement has already been identified by the clubs assistant manager.

Ryan Giggs has reportedly identified Leicester City goal keeper Kasper Schmeichel as his replacement according to reports from the Sun.

With the transfer ban on Real Madrid for the next two transfer windows impose by FIFA stopping the Spanish side from buying any players, it is understood that the Los Blancos are keen on brining the Spanish goal-keeper to Madrid by activating his £30.5 million release clause before the end of January.

The summer window saw a transfer saga that ended in Madrid missing out on their star on the last minute but De Gea has since settled into his own and has been United’s best player this season.

The uncertainty surrounding De Gea’s future at the club has lead Giggs to search for a possible replacement and Schmeichel in the middle of a good season at Leicester has emerged as a suitable option.

Kasper Schmeichel would pounce at a chance to play for a club like United and emulate his father who played alongside Ryan Giggs in the treble winning 1999 season.

The Spanish goalkeeper also fuelled the rumors of his move by posting a picture on a social networking site with a picture of himself in a kit that resembled the one at the Bernabeau.

Do you think United can keep hold of De Gea till the end of next season?
