Bidding war between Arsenal and United for Ibra

Manchester United have reportedly tabled a massive offer to tempt Ibrahimovich to Old Trafford next season spoiling Arsenal’s move.

Zlatan’s contract with PSG will expire this summer and has made it clear that he would not be staying with the French champions which prompted a scramble to uncover where he will be playing next term.

However on Friday, there were several reports claiming the 34-year-old Swedish striker is one of United’s priority targets as the Red Devils are ready to offer a two-year contract worth £24m.

A source close to United hierarchy told the Daily Star “The team needs a major injection of talent and some superstar additions.

“Zlatan fits the bill. He might be getting on a bit but he can still do it at the highest level and would be worth the risk in terms of big wages because no fee is involved.”

Meanwhile it is still not clear at the moment if Arsenal are even interested in signing Zlatan or if their name has just been incorporated to increase page views.

Paris Saint-Germain’s highly rated striker Ibrahimovic, has long been heavily linked with a move to Old Trafford particularly if Jose Mourinho is appointed as the next manager because the pair has always been very close.

However, recently PSG’s former sporting director Ariedo Braida claimed Ibrahimovic would be open to a sensational return to AC Milan. If this latest revelation is to be believed then it would certainly be a huge blow for Premier League giants as United, Arsenal and Chelsea all are in the run to sign him.

The Swedish goalmachine revealed last month that ‘big things will happen’ when his contract with Paris Saint-Germain expires at the end of the season and also made it clear he is ‘in shape’ for the Premier League challenge.

United’s executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward has also a keen eye for a commercial opportunity and, despite Ibrahimovic’s ageing  years, he is still one of the most marketable names in world football alongside Messi-Ronaldo.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic obviously fixes everything for Manchester United. Include him to the forefront and suddenly their credentials are solidified. They have a world class striker, stopper and creator. Defense is still a work in progress, but it has proven to be pretty strong more times than not.

If LVG wants to win something before he is shown the door following his boys’ poor run of form, changes have to come. Moreover, Ibrahimovich can become the perfect mentor for young Anthony Martial.
