Some sickening tweets sent by trolls who threatened to rape Jamie Vardy’s 5-year-old daughter are now being investigated by police.
On Sunday night, when the Leicester star was celebrating a victory over Southampton, unfortunately, his partner Rebecca Nicholson was on the end of some despicable tweets by sick social media jarheads.
The posts displayed threats to rape the pair’s five-year-old daughter and are too graphic to publish.
The striker, who has sensationally fired surprise package Leicester City to the top of the Premier League, was so angered and disappointed by the tweets that he went on to share the comments to 236,000 followers on his Twitter account
And police has they have now launched an investigation.
Leicestershire Police declared in a statement: “Leicestershire Police is investigating a report of malicious communication being sent via social media.
“A report was made today of an abusive message being received yesterday evening by a woman on Twitter.
“Enquiries remain ongoing and the force is liaising with Leicester City Football Club.”
The posts were made after his partner posted an image of their cute daughter onto the social networking site.
The cute little girl was pictured on Twitter wearing a “Daddy” Number 9 shirt at the King Power Stadium, Leicester City’s home ground.
Vardy later retweeted his partner’s tweet, which apparently prompted the trolls to launch the abuse unprovoked.
The Englishman said the comments were “shocking and vile”.
Miss Nicholson responded to one of them, claiming: “There are no words for people like you! You need locking up.”
The accounts – which were run by Twitter users believed to be Manchester United supporters – are now no longer active.
One has been suspended and others have been deleted.
Fans have rallied their support for Vardy after seeing the disgusting abuse.
One wrote: “Oh my God – what is this?”.
“Report them to the cops,” another urged.
Another further said: “Jamie, just to point out, not all Manchester United fans are like this, I’m sorry if those idiots have offended you.”
