Arsene Wenger’s time at the Emirates finally up?

The longest serving manager at the London based franchise Arsenal, Arsene Wenger has had a troubled time this season. In more than 10 years, this season of the Premier League has given a chance for the Gunners to win the title, but lack of consistency has seen them tumble over and move far away from the top of the table.

Recent results in the league have shown that Wenger has not learnt his lesson from the previous season as his team is once again failing to finish the season on a high.

Wenger’s team has always been criticized of underperforming in the business end of the season and this campaign seems to be no different for the Emirates franchise.

In the last 10 games in the Premier League, Arsenal have managed just 3 wins and 4 draws and have lost thrice taking just 13 of the 30 points on offer. This drastic dip in form has seen the club squander a great chance of moving to the top of the table.

From leading the table, equal on points with Leicester City, Arsenal in just a month and a half have now fallen to the third place 8 points away from the Foxes.

This has seen many pundits call for the bosses sack and the fans took it a step further when they unfurled a huge banner telling Wenger that his time in London is over even as the Gunners mauled Hull City 4-0 in an FA Cup game.

Though the title dreams are not completely buried, Arsenal have not been at their best in cup competitions as well. They were out of the League Cup early and needed a last gasp win to get into the knock out stage of the Champions League.

But the draw in Europe’s elite competition did not help the Frenchman’s cause as he was drawn with arguably the best team in Europe this season.

The Round of 16 of the UCL drew Arsenal with Barcelona and the Gunners failed miserably to challenge the Catalan giants in the first leg at the Emirates. They were beaten 2-0 and will travel to the Camp Nou this week in a hope for a miracle.

Progress into the next round of UCL is a far-fetched dream for Wenger but what will hurt the club the most is the loss in the FA Cup.

Arsenal have not really been consistent enough in the domestic league over the last couple of season but they have found themselves holding on to the FA Cup for the last two consecutive years.

However, they were beaten all ends by a confident Watford side that are enjoying some great success in England’s top flight of the sport.

Ighalo and Guediora scored for the Hornets as they beat the Gunners 2-1 and dumped them out of the competition to reach the quarter finals of the FA Cup.

This has left Arsenal with no real chance of silverware and with the league title needing a lot more effort than what they have shown in recent times, Wenger now has a disastrous season in his hands.

Without silverware and no real aim for the next season and with the teams around them in the league planning for big changes this summer, the Arsenal hierarchy might just contemplate to end the long relationship with the 66-year old.

The frustrations from the fans and lack of success over a long period of time has seen Wenger’s contribution to the club’s past go into the background and if he is not able to launch a late assault at the Premier League title, he may well end up being replaced at the Emirates.

Do you think Wenger’s time at Arsenal is up?
