Liverpool on alert: Xabi Alonso stalls Bayern Munich contract, talks about Schweinsteiger move to Man United

Former Liverpool and Real Madrid star Xabi Alonso has stated that he is not willing to rush into signing any contract extension with Bayern Munich.

The World Cup and Euro Cup winner has only one year remaining in his contract at the Allianz Arena.

My contract? We will see what happens. This is not the time to discuss this subject, he said.

The 33 year old is one of the most decorated footballers in the world and is considered one of the best midfielders of the modern era.

This could put his former club Liverpool on alert where he is still hailed as a hero.

The Spanish deep lying playmaker spent five amazing seasons at Merseyside and their is a special connection between the player and the club and he could be willing to make a return to his former club.

He won Champions League, the FA Cup and the UEFA Super Cup during his time at Liverpool.

The two time Champions League winner has won Bundesliga last season with Bayern.

The 33-year-old also opened up about former team-mate Bastian Schweinsteiger’s move to Manchester United.

The German joined United for a fee of £14.4 million and the midfield playmaker was keen to offer the Bayern legend a parting message.

Basti has been very important to Bayern for the past 10 years, he added.

But he has made the decision to move on. That’s his call and I can only wish him the best.
