According to reports in Netherlands, Liverpool young striker Taiwo Awoniyi is nearing a loan move to Eredivisie outfit NEC as the player was seen attending the side’s league match against Go Ahead Eagles on Sunday.

The Nigerian is set to join Dutch club as he does not qualify for the UK work permit. The 18-year old has joined Reds for a reported £400k deal last summer. He spent last season on loan at Bundesliga II side FSV Frankfurt.

He has managed to score one goal in 13 appearances last season and will move to Dutch club as the next step in his development.

He underwent medical yesterday and Own Goal Nigeria reports that the 18-year old has passed the medical.

A source told the website: “He underwent medicals with NEC Nijmegen this afternoon.”Everything went well and he could make his debut this weekend. He is excited about the chance he will get in the team.”

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp is willing to send exciting talent to other clubs on loan as it helps in their progress rather than staying at the club and playing for under age group matches.

Dutch outlet Voetbal Primeur reported that an agreement had been reached between Liverpool and NEC for Awoniyi on a season-long deal. The Nigerian is expected to make his NEC debut this weekend.
