Former India opener Aakash Chopra believes that the captaincy saga might not end soon since the chief selector Chetan Sharma gave clarifications on Virat Kohli’s statement. Chopra feels that there might be another statement from Kohli’s end round the corner.

On Friday the BCCI chief selector Chetan Sharma held a press conference after they announced the ODI squad for the South Africa tour. In the press conference, Sharma clarified all the questions regarding the matter.

Sharma said that the selectors requested Kohli to reconsider his resignation from the T20I captaincy. However, Kohli in a pre-departure press conference before South Africa denied any such conversation with the BCCI officials or selectors. Kohli said that his decision was received well and there was no denial from anybody in the BCCI.

Speaking on his Youtube channel, Aakash Chopra said that shots might have been fired and there will be a response from Kohli’s end as well.

A little more fuel has been added to the fire which was already there because the clarification has come from the BCCI via Chetan Sharma, who is the chairman of selectors,” said Aakash Chopra on his Youtube Channel.

There should be no rumours and sources in 2022 although, after Chetan Sharma’s statement, the shots might have been fired and maybe there will be reciprocation from Virat Kohli’s side as well because till now that is what is happening – one person says something and the other refutes. It’s not nice at all, but if it happens, don’t be surprised,” he added.
