India white-ball skipper Rohit Sharma said that all players who are not retained would be glued to the TV for the IPL mega auction. The mega auction will be held on February 12 and 13 in Bengaluru.
On Friday with another comprehensive win, India clean swept the series by 3-0 against West Indies. Now the T20I series will be played from February 16 in Kolkata. But before that, everyone would have a close eye on the mega auction. Notable that it will be a 10-team affair this time as two new franchises in form of Lucknow Super Giants and Gujarat Titans have been included in this cash riched league.
“We have ticked a lot of boxes this series”- Rohit Sharma
In the post-match press conference when Rohit Sharma was asked about the team’s plans on the auction day, he cheekily replied, “Everyone and all the guys who have not been retained will be glued to the TV, watching what is happening. I am certainly keeping my phone off.”
Talking about the team’s performance, Sharma believes that the team ticked most boxes. Notable India won all three games despite not much contribution from the top order. However the preparations were hit by the covid outbreak as three Indian players- Shikhar Dhawan, Shreyas Iyer, and Ruturaj Gaikwad were tested positive before the ODI series.
“We have ticked a lot of boxes in this series. Whatever we wanted to get out of the series, we got.” Rohit Sharma said.
Also, Sharma stated that the team is not focusing on ‘outside noise’. There will always be opinions and criticisms of Team India.
The noise will be around as long as we are playing. We know we are playing a high-profile sport in India and people look up to us and watch us. As players and individuals, we know what we need to focus on. The outside noise doesn’t bother the dressing room. As long as we can come out and do what we are expected to do, that is very important.” he stated.
Now the team will move to Kolkata for the 3-match T20I series starting on February 16.
