Former Zimbabwe captain Andy Flower has emerged as the frontrunner to become head coach of Lucknow franchise for IPL 2022. He previously has worked with Punjab Kings for the past two years as an assistant coach. He has already stepped down from that role for Punjab Kings.

Also there are reports that KL Rahul and Rashid Khan will join the Sanjiv Goenka owned franchise. Notable that these newly inducted franchises can sign maximum 3 players (Max two Indians) before the mega auction.
“We have been hearing a lot of names. Only today someone wrote that Gary Kirsten is also becoming the coach. We are in the talks with a few, but unless signs for us, we cannot confirm.” A team official told PTI.

Andy Flower has been one of the most popular coaches around the world at various franchise based tournaments. He coached Multan Sultans to the title in Pakistan Super League 2021. Under his coaching, St. Lucia Kings finished as runners-up in two consecutive years in Caribbean Premier League.
Earlier he had worked with England as head coach for 5 years. Under him England won T20 World Cup in 2010, also England reached to no.1 Test ranking. Also, England won the Ashes 2010-11 in Australia under his coaching.
Other than Flower and Kirsten, there are a few other names that have been emerged out for coaching roles, are Daniel Vettori and Ashish Nehra.
