Premier League giants seem to be accepted defeat in Dusan Vlahovic race as Italian giants Juventus are reportedly closing on to signing Fiorentina striker. Now with just 6 days remaining when the transfer window gets closed, Arsenal have shifted their focus to Everton forward Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Real Madrid striker Luka Jovic.
Both senior forward players Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazetee are closing on Arsenal exits this month. Aubameyang has been frozen out at Emirates after the breach in the club’s disciplinary rules last month. He was stripped of the captaincy role after and removed from the first team as well. Since then he has been transfer-listed at the club and has been offered to other clubs. But his £300-a-week wages are proving a hurdle in finding a new club this month.
The 30-year-old French forward Lacazette is getting regular game time in the number nine role but the player has scored just 3 goals in 16 Premier League appearances so far. Former Lyons striker has just 6 months remaining on this contract and Arsenal have decided not to extend his North London stay. The third choice forward Eddie Nketiah is also in the last 6 months of his contract and is expected to leave this month.
Arsenal To Move On From Vlahovic To Luca Jovic and Calvert-Lewin:
Manager Mikel Arteta has found his starting eleven at Emirates Stadium finally, with only the striker position missing. Arsenal targeted Fiorentina striker Dusan Vlahovic who is was leading the Serie A goalscoring charts till last week. He is valued at around £62 million and Arsenal have already agreed on a deal with the Italian side. The Gunners have also offered a £300-a-week contract offer to fast process this deal but Vlahovic is stalling Arsenal as he is exploring other options as well. Serie A giants Juventus are also in contact with Fiorentina and Vlahovic is considering joining the Old Lady, according to football.london report.
But now with just 6 days remaining till the transfer window closes, Gunners have started looking at other targets. Everton star Dominic Calvert-Lewin is available for £60 million due to worsening financial conditions at Goodison Park. According to a report from Daily Star, Arsenal are looking at English forward as an alternative to Dusan Vlahovic, but Gunners will struggle to come close to their demanding fee Calvert-Lewin.
Real Madrid striker Lucas Jovic came at Santiago Bernabeu with high expectations but the revival of Karim Benzema since last season has restricted the Serbian to just 3 goals in 47 appearances. This season he has yet to start any La Liga fixture and looking for an exit at Real Madrid. According to The Athletic, Arsenal are considering a six-month loan offer for the 24-year-old forward who has two and half years left at Santiago Bernabeu.
