Chelsea are looking to explore the possibility to sign Inter Milan winger Ivan Perisic this month to solve their left wing-back problem. The Croatian veteran has just six months remaining on his contract at San Siro and is available to listen to offers this month. Inter Milan are also looking to let go of their star player this month for a minimal fee instead of losing on a free transfer in the summer.

The 32-year-old left-winger arrived at San Siro from Bundesliga side VfL Wolfsburg in 2015 for a transfer fee of £13 million. He enjoyed good success with the Nerazzurri over the years and also spend the 2019-20 season on loan at Bayern Munich. Last season he won the Serie A title with Inter Milan and a season before that, he won Bundesliga and Champions League trophies with Bayern Munich. Perisic has scored 49 goals in 239 appearances for the Italian champions and has scored 32 goals in 111 matches for Croatia.

This season, Perisic has been a regular starter in Simone Inzaghi’s squad with 4 goals in 18 league matches. Inter Milan currently sit at top of the league table with 49 points from the opening 20 league matches, just 1 point behind rivals AC Milan and 8 points ahead of 5th placed Juventus. They are sure to finish this season in top-four this season and retaining their Serie A title will be a high priority for the Nerazzurri.

Ivan Perisic Open To Chelsea Move?

According to a report from the Mirror, Chelsea is looking to sign Perisic as a short-term replacement of injured left-back Ben Chilwell. Former Leicester City star was ruled out of the season after picking up a knee injury in November. Since then Marcos Alonso has been deployed in left wing-back role but Chelsea are struggling in that specific position. Inter Milan are also in favour to sell their star player in mid-season as they bolster a big enough squad to win the league title again.

The Blues are in the market for a new left-back nut are hesitant to spend big on a new player as They spent £50 million on Chilwell last season. Manager Thomas Tuchel was keen on bringing Lucas Digne to Stamford Bridge but the player chose Aston Villa last week. Another long-term target Theo Hernandez also rejected their approach to extend a contract with AC Milan. Chelsea also failed to recall Emerson from Lyons who refused to terminate the Italians’ full-season loan. Recently Chelsea recalled Brazilian winger Robert Kenedy from Flamengo to fill in as a backup option to Alonso.

The same report also suggests that North London giants Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur are also keeping tabs on Ivan Perisic. But the player is determined on West London move as they are sure to finish in the top-four this season and can offer regular first-team game time. Both Gunners and Spurs are well equipped in the left wing-back position but looking to deploy Perisic on the left forward role. The winter transfer window is open till 31st January, enough time for Perisic to decide on his next club.
