Speaking ahead of the series, The former bowling coach shared his wisdom in an interview with journalist Boria Majumdar.

“I would still go for them being very accurate. All the time, I tell the bowlers to work for excellence. It’s not chasing wickets, it’s not going after anything. It is just the thought of being very very mean – not giving the batters anything.” Arun said.

“There are two ways to put pressure on a team. One is to get wickets and the other way is to curtail the flow of runs. If you are not able to get wickets, you need to curtail runs so that the opponents don’t run away from you. They are where they are. And, the minute you get a couple of wickets, you are on top of the game. This is going to be the mantra and this is what, I think, they should be following.” he added further.

India’s campaign in South Africa will begin with the series starting on December 26 at Centurion as the visitors will be chasing their first Test series in the rainbow nation. India played 7 test series in South Africa in which the hosts got the upper hand in 6 of them while the series in 2010-11 ended in a draw.

Though things have been a little different this time. South Africa skipper also warned his team to be wary of the Indian pace attack.

“He (Jasprit Bumrah) is a world class bowler. If there is one bowler who can exploit South African conditions pretty well, it would be him. But again, we don’t focus on one guy. Indian as a whole is a pretty, pretty good side.” Dean Elgar spoke in a media interaction.
