India all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja said that he’s enjoying the responsibility to bat at number 5 for India. Jadeja is making a comeback after a long time as he missed the entire South Africa tour with a forearm injury.
Jadeja was sent at no.4 in the first match when he could get a chance to face only 4 balls but on Saturday he made the most out of the opportunity with a terrific knock of 18-ball 45 runs which took India home with a 7-wicket win to seal the series.
“I can take my time and pace innings accordingly”- Ravindra Jadeja
Speaking in the post-match press conference, Ravindra Jadeja said that batting higher up the order gives him more time to pace his innings according to the situation. He also said that it was a good pitch to bat on.
“I am enjoying batting at No.5, I can take my time and pace innings accordingly. I have been enjoying my batting. I was looking to time the ball because it was coming on nicely onto the bat. Wicket was good so Shreyas and I were looking to batting till the end,” said Jadeja.
“Wicket was so good, the ball was coming on nicely and I was just looking to time the ball. I was not trying too hard, was just looking to play normal cricketing shots. Shreyas has been batting really well, I was enjoying with him,” he added.
He also lauded Sanju Samson who set a good foundation with a big partnership with Shreyas Iyer. Samson scored 39 runs in 25 balls and formed an 84-run partnership for the 3rd wicket.
“He played brilliantly. When you play after a long time and score runs, you feel confident. Hopefully, he continues in the upcoming games,” Jadeja maintained.
The third and final game will be played on Sunday. India are on an 11-match winning streak and are just one away to equal the world record.
