Former Indian off-spinner Harbhajan Singh has huge expectations from star Indian batter Virat Kohli who scored a fantastic hundred against Australia in the fourth and final test of the Border Gavaskar Trophy. Kohli reached his century after almost a gap of three years and five months.

Harbhajan Singh who is currently in Doha playing Legends League Cricket for India Maharajas, speaking to Sports Tak, lauded Virat Kohli for his fantastic century and added that he excepts former Indian skipper to score more than 100 centuries breaching the mark of legendary Sachin Tendulkar, former Punjab Captain reckoned that Virat has age and fitness in his favour so that he can score at least 50 more century in all three formats.

“It’s certainly possible. I think he can score more than that (100 centuries). Two things favor Virat here; his age, and his fitness. He’s 34 but his fitness is that of a 24-year-old cricketer. He’s way ahead in that aspect. He has already scored 75 centuries, he can score at least 50 more. He knows his game and he plays all formats,”  Harbhajan Singh said.

This is the 8th century for Kohli against Australia. While, in Border Gavaskar Trophy (BGT) 2023, team India is leading the four-test match series by 2-1 against Australia. Rohit Sharma-led side needs to win at Ahmedabad for assurance of qualification to the World Test Championship (WTC) Final which seems extremely difficult as the pitch is still good for batting.

This Is Pretty Much A Comeback For Virat – Harbhajan Singh

Another 50 centuries make look like an uphill task to achieve, but Harbhajan Singh said that it is possible to achieve this record as he got fitness in his side and added that Virat has the batting ability to score more centuries and praised him for a comeback from the slump in form to score five hundred starting in Asia cup 2022.

“You might think I’m going overboard with this, but it is certainly possible. If anyone can do it, it’s Virat Kohli. Rest all are far behind him. He knew he had to work on his fitness because his batting abilities are god-gifted. I don’t think he will stop from here. There are no technical faults, and even if they are, he works on them and rectifies them. Since his return, he has already scored five centuries. This is pretty much a comeback for him,” He further added.

Virat Kohli now has 28 tons in the longer format of the game, with a total of 75 centuries in international cricket. The star Indian batter had last scored a Test century in November of 2019 against Bangladesh at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata. Since then, he couldn’t reach the three-figure mark in international cricket till Asia Cup 2022.
