Since Rohit Sharma took over India’s white-ball captaincy, India hasn’t put a foot wrong in shorter formats. First, they beat New Zealand in the 3-match T20I series then clean-swept West Indies in both ODI and T20I series. However, they lost the ODI series in South Africa which Rohit Sharma missed due to an injury.
On Sunday, India beat West Indies by 17 runs to complete the whitewash. Rohit Sharma batted in the middle order to accommodate Ruturaj Gaikwad and Ishan Kishan in the top order.
Former India captain Sunil Gavaskar shared his views on his captaincy as he said that Rohit Sharma has been managing the team well and players are told about their roles clearly.

India won 21 T20Is out of 25 under Rohit Sharma’s captaincy
“The way he has steadied the team, the players have the clarity (about their roles). I am not saying that the clarity wasn’t there before as that would be wrong as I am not inside the dressing room.
“From the way Rohit Sharma speaks, it seems like players know their roles and knows what the captain and team expect from them. So, the players are trying their best to live up to the expectations and responsibility,” Gavaskar spoke to Sports Tak.

Notable that Rohit Sharma has also been appointed India’s captain in the longest format as India will take on Sri Lanka in the 2-match Test series next month.
So he has a formidable record as captain in both white-ball formats. In T20Is, he captained India in 25 matches and won 21 of them. Similarly in ODIs, he captained in 13 matches to register 11 wins.
India’s next assignment will be a 3-match T20I series which will start on February 24 in Lucknow, followed by two back-to-back matches on February 26 and 27 in Dharamsala.
Then the test series will begin in Mohali from March 4 which will also be the 100th test match for Virat Kohli. The second match will be played under lights in Bengaluru.
These two are the only series remaining for India before IPL which is likely to begin the last week of March.
