Former Australia captain Ricky Ponting has hit out at Cricket Australia over Justin Langer’s treatment. Notable that Justin Langer stepped down from the position of head coach with immediate effect as Cricket Australia declined to offer him a long-term contract.
Ponting also reminded that Cricket Australia also didn’t deal with the matter Tim Paine rightly as the 37-year old was sidelined right before over a sexting scandal.

Justin Langer stepped down as Australia head coach with immediate effect
“It’s been a really poor six months with the way Cricket Australia have handled some of the better people in Australian cricket, those being Justin Langer and Tim Paine. I think it’s been almost embarrassing the way they handled those two cases,” Ricky Ponting spoke to ABC radio.
Ponting also showed disappointment that captain Pat Cummins and other senior players didn’t speak for him publicly.

“That’s been enough to force a man that has put his life and heart and soul into Australian cricket, It’s a really sad day as far as Australian cricket is concerned,” he added.
Justin Langer took over the role of Australia head coach after the famous Sandpaper Gate when he replaced Darren Lehmann. Since then he turned things around for Australia as they retained the Ashes for the first time in England in the last 18 years.
Also, under his coaching, Australia won their maiden T20 World Cup title last year in UAE. Followed by the 4-0 Ashes win at home which turned out to be his last assignment as Australia’s coach.
Matthew Hayden, who used to be the opening partner of Justin Langer for Australia, also showed his disappointment over the matter.
“We’re not talking about a rookie. We’re talking about a legend of the game, a centurion, an Ashes-winning and World Cup-winning coach,” Hayden spoke to ABC.
“How do you reckon he’s going? If you listen to the Australian captain the other day not mention once any kind of commendation or support for him, I don’t think he would be going very well,” he added.
Andrew McDonald, who was working as an assistant coach under Justin Langer, has been appointed the head coach on an interim basis. Australia will tour Pakistan for a series of 3 Tests, 3 ODIs, and one T20I in March-April.
