Premier League giants Liverpool and Chelsea are both interested in AS Monaco starlet Aurelien Tchouameni. The young defensive midfielder is on the rise in French football with consistent impressive displays in the last two years and now has drawn the attention of European giants.
The 21-year-old French holding midfielder has been established as one of the best midfielders in the world and already featured 7 times for the National team. He has developed into the French team as an irreplaceable option despite the strong competition from N’Golo Kante, Paul Pogba, Eduardo Camaving, and Corentin Tolisso. Tchouameni joined Monaco last season and has made 52 league appearances with 3 goals so far.
Manchester United are also keeping an eye on Monaco star but will wait on their other primary targets in the summer. Monaco are struggling in Ligue 1 with just 29 points from the opening 19 matches. They are 17 points behind leaders Paris Saint-Germain but just 4 points behind 3rd placed Nice. If Monaco fail to finish this season with Champions League qualification then it will be a tough task for manager Stephane Nado to hold on to his key players like Tchouameni, Kevin Volland, and Wissam Ben Yedder.

Merseyside giants are the latest club that have shown interest in Tchouameni. Liverpool are looking for a future prospect as their midfield is ageing compared to other top-six English giants. James Milner is in his 36 and maybe playing his last season with Liverpool and Thiago and Henderson have also crossed their 30s.
According to a report from the Athletic, Liverpool are keeping tabs on players’ transfer activity and might bid for him in the summer transfer window. Tchouameni has two and half years left on his contract and he will be looking for a bigger club as his next challenge. Liverpool can offer him a regular place in the squad and also a Champions League competition every year.
Chelsea are also eyeing a big offer for the young Frenchman in the summer as they are not willing to sign on-loan midfielder Saul Niguez. The Blues signed Spanish ace on loan in the summer from Atletico Madrid but has failed to adapt physicality level of English football. N’Golo Kante is operating in a more advanced role and Jorginho has crossed 30 already. Chelsea are also interested in another defensive midfielder Declan Rice but face heavy competition for the West Ham skipper.

Both Liverpool and Chelsea are struggling to compete with Manchester City who have a 10-points lead over them. The Citizens midfield is dominating over them due to last season’s signing of Rodri Hernandez. Rodri has been influential in midfield since his arrival at Etihad who is offering extra cover to their attacking-minded full-backs and has proven as a perfect and swift replacement to Fernandinho.
