After winning the doubles title at the BNP Paribas Open yesterday with her partner Martina Higgins, Sania Mirza has jumped to her best ranking of number 3 in doubles which is great achievement for the Indian tennis star who have done the country proud by winning titles at the International circuit. She is behind Italians Roberta Vinci and Sara Errani who share the top spot with 7640 points.
It has been an exceptional performance by Saina Mirza who had reached the finals of the same tournament with her partner Cara Black. By winning this tournament IBNP Paribas tournament Saina has earned 1000 points. Saina Mirza has been in excellent form winning the US Open mixed doubles title in 2014. Her performance has been tremendous and has achieved the rankings with her hardwork and determination.
In the finals yesterday Saina Mirza parnterning with Martina Higgins beat Makarova and Vesisna in straight sets 6-3, 6-4 to win their first title as doubles pair. This shows that Saina Mirza has been working hard and can become the number 1 doubles pair in women’s section one day.
In mixed doubles Saina Mirza has won 3 titles. She has represented India in the Asian games also and won gold medals with Leander Paes in 2006 and with Saketh Miryeni in mixed doubles in 2014.
She has been an inspiration for Indian women’s which has done so much for the country bringing so much glory.
In the WTA singles chart, Ankita Raina continues to be numero uno player at number 253, up by two spots.
In the ATP rankings, Somdev Devvarman maintained his 176th rank while Ramkumar Ramanathan was number two after gaining 10 places to be at 247.
Yuki Bhambri was the next best at 257 as he jumped 27 spots.
In the doubles, Leander Paes slid to 25, a loss of four places and just behind him was Rohan Bopanna, who lost one spot on the ladder.
