The event technical committee of the ICC U-19 World Cup 2022 has approved Aaradhya Yadav as a replacement for injured all-rounder Vasu Vats in the India squad for the remainder of the tournament. Vasu Vats suffered a hamstring injury and won’t be able to take any further part in the tournament.

India will face Bangladesh in the Quarter-final of the U-19 World Cup

India won all three games in the group stage of the U-19 World Cup

“The replacement of a player requires the approval of the Event Technical Committee before the replacement player can be officially added to the squad,” stated an official release.

The Event Technical Committee consists of the chair Chris Tetley (ICC Head of Events), Ben Leaver (ICC Senior Event Manager), Fawwaz Baksh (Tournament Director), Roland Holder (CWI Representative), Alan Wilkins and Russel Arnold (both independent representatives).

India will face Bangladesh on Saturday in the Super-league Quarter-final game at North Sound, Antigua.

Notable that Aaradhya Yadav was one among 6 players who were tested positive for Covid-19 but now he is recovered and will be available for an all-important quarter-final clash against Bangladesh.

Another good news for India is that regular captain Yash Dhull, vice-captain Shaik Rasheed, Sidharth Yadav, and Manav Parakh have been deemed fit for the quarter-final game. Though they have been hit by a fresh case as all-rounder Nishant Sindhu, who was stand-in captain in absence of Yash Dhull, was tested positive for Covid-19 and won’t be available for Saturday’s game.

Despite this covid outbreak, India had a terrific campaign so far as they beat South Africa by 45 runs in the opening clash. And in the next two games, they beat Ireland and Uganda with a whopping margin of 174 and 326 runs respectively. As the core of the batting will return in form of Yash Dhull and Shaik Rasheed, India will have a problem of plenty.

In the game against Uganda, Raj Bawa scored a record-breaking knock of 162* which is the highest score by any Indian batter in the Under-19 World Cup, beating the record of Shikhar Dhawan (155*) against Scotland in the 2004 edition.
