Of late in a cricket dominated India, the athletes from other fields are showing their calibre to the world. The latest one to achieve the new feat is the 20-year old Neeraj Chopra who brought gold to India at SAVO games.
The Javelin thrower returned with the impressive figures of 85.69 meters. He thrashed his Chinese opponent, Taipei rival Chao-Tsun Cheng to bring yet another championship for India in Finland.
Neeraj’s opponent, Cheng has been the clear favourite in the final game. He had been the only Asian to thrown Javeling beyond 90 meters in the past. On the other hand, Neeraj’s career-best has been 87.43m, which he registered during the first leg of the Diamond League Meeting in Doha in May.
However, rightly, when it required the most, the Indian athlete dealt it calmly while taking his Chinese compatriot on. The silver-winner Cheng managed to throw 82.52m in his shot while Neeraj easily managed to cross it by a fair distance (85.69).
Currently, the gold winner, Neeraj Chopra is leading the Asian Charts successfully. He is following by the second-placed Chinese Cheng and then the lad from Qatar, Ahmed Bader Magour.
However, it has been quite an achievement for India with athletes bring laurels to India in various sports departments.
