When You Win, You Can Say That - Sunil Gavaskar Replies To Dean Elgar 1
Dean Elgar

Former India captain Sunil Gavaskar believes that there isn’t much to read from Dean Elgar’s comments in the pre-match conference. Notable that Elgar said that India looked flustered in the second Test match because of the intensity shown by South Africa.

Notable that India’s regular skipper Virat Kohli missed the second test match due to an upper back spasm as Dean Elgar & Co. turned things around with a 7-wicket win at Johannesburg to level the series by 1-1. Dean Elgar himself led from the front with a gritty knock of unbeaten 96 which helped them to chase down the target of 240 in the fourth innings.

“We brought the intensity it almost flustered the Indians”- Dean Elgar

Things had been quite heated up during the test match. So Dean Elgar again sparked the debate ahead of the second test as the skipper said that India couldn’t match the intensity shown by the hosts and looked quite flustered.

“We saw that at the Wanderers when we brought the intensity it almost flustered the Indians quite a lot and that can play in our favour and it will almost be silly for us not to replicate that and or bring even more intensity for the next game,” Elgar had said.

However, Gavaskar didn’t conclude anything from that as he believes that Elgar made such a statement because his side ended up levelling the series.

“Hahaha! Yeah, when you win, you can say that,” said Gavaskar on Star Sports.

Rassie van der Dussen was given caught behind on 1

“I think it all started from the Rishabh Pant dismissal when Rassie van der Dussen was standing at forward short leg. And then he got that delivery from Rabada climbing at his throat. As a bowler, you want to make the batter play something different than what he is used to.” he added further.

It all started when Rassie van der Dussen was given caught behind on the last ball before lunch on 2nd day of the Johannesburg test however the replays suggested that the ball bounced ahead of Rishabh Pant but the umpires didn’t change their decision despite they had a chance to do so. Pant and Van der Dussen also exchanged a few words when the former came out to bat and got out playing a rash shot.
