Mohammed Siraj made his ODI and T20I debut under Virat Kohli

“o my superhero, I cannot be thankful enough for the support and encouragement I got from you. You have always been my guiding elder brother. Thank you for trusting me and believing in me for all these years. For seeing the good in me, even at my worst. You will always be my captain #KingKohli ? @virat.kohli,” Mohammed Siraj posted on Instagram.

Virat Kohli has been a huge influence on Siraj’s career as he made his ODI and T20I debut under him and also played a major part of his IPL career under Virat Kohli’s captaincy for RCB.

Though he made his Test debut under the captaincy of Ajinkya Rahane at Melbourne in 2020 as Virat Kohli returned to India for paternity leave. Siraj has had a fruitful past couple of years as he made a mark in all three formats.

Siraj was also one among three retained players by RCB as they retained Virat Kohli, Glenn Maxwell and Mohammed Siraj.

In his 12-Test match career, Siraj has come a long way as he picked a fifer against Australia and also picked 8-wickets in the historic win against England at Lord’s. So far he picked 36 wickets with an average of 29.63. He was also the go-to man for Virat Kohli in IPL as he used to bowl key overs for them. In the 2021 season, the pacer picked only 11 wickets in the entire season but he conceded runs with an economy of 6.79 despite bowling in the death.

Siraj missed out in the final test match against South Africa as the hosts scripted a 7-wicket win against India to seal the series by 1-2. He suffered a hamstring injury during the second Test match at Johannesburg.
