WWE legend and Hall of Famer Jake Roberts recently talked about the defeat that Cody Rhodes faced by the hands of Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 39 and explained why it would not affect his career. Cody is still continuing his main event push on WWE RAW.
Speaking with Fightful, Jake Roberts said; “Well, knowing Vince McMahon, I could have told you that’s what would happen. Because everybody just knew Cody [Rhodes] was going to take it [get the victory], and if everybody’s calling for it. Vince is going to do quite the opposite, you know?

“He doesn’t want anyone calling his sh*t. So, as far as business-wise, it did disappoint a lot of people. I don’t think it hurt Cody. But, I mean, my god, they threw everything but the kitchen sink at him. But, at some point soon, they would give the title to him.” Concluded the WWE Hall of Famer Jake Roberts.
Throughout his professional wrestling career, Cody Rhodes has always been treated as a mid card wrestler. During the early days of his WWE career, he was a concrete mid card who won multiple mid card championships. Even after going to AEW, his mid card status did not change.
Cody Rhodes Is Currently Involved In A Feud With Brock Lesnar
For the first time in his professional wrestling career, he was treated as a main event star after returning to WWE at WrestleMania 38 as the surprise opponent for the four times WWE World champion Seth Rollins. He had a series of victories over Rollins but at Hell in a Cell pay per view event, picked up a message injury that sidelined him from action for nearly 8 months.
He made his return during the men’s Royal Rumble match at the Royal Rumble pay per view event, and he won the match. He challenged Roman Reigns for the WWE Undisputed Universal Heavyweight championship at WrestleMania 39 but unfortunately, he lost. But WWE did not give up on his main event push.
Thankfully, WWE did not give up on Cody Rhodes’ main event push and right now he is involved in a big feud with Brock Lesnar. Surely, he will be back in the World title picture soon. There are rumours that he would face Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 40. He is also rumoured to win the new World Heavyweight Championship soon.
