WWE SmackDown star and a former three times WWE Intercontinental Champion Sami Zayn who is also a former WWE NXT champion recently gave his opinion on if he is more popular than Roman Reigns right now. Sami Zayn is currently working as a member of the Bloodline faction of WWE.
Sami Zayn has been overlooked for quite a long time in WWE in spite of being one of the most talented wrestlers of the roster. Some believe that it was his injuries which prevented WWE from giving him a decent push. But it seems like that WWE is finally preparing a long awaited push for the former three times WWE Intercontinental Champion.
Sami Zayn Reflects On If He Is More Popular Than Roman Reigns
After joining the Bloodline and becoming a part of this storyline, the popularity of Sami grew by a huge margin. This popularity might lead him to a big success in the near future, this is something that the fans love to believe. There is definitely something big waiting at the end of this storyline, but will it be a main event push for Sami, only time will tell.
Previously there had been several WWE stars who became extremely popular, but WWE decided not to push them neither giving them any kind of decent storyline. Instead they ended up killing their pushes.
For example, Damien Sandow became one of the most popular stars of WWE with his Damien Mizdow gimmick, and Rusev became extremely popular with his Rusev Day gimmick. But none of them they got any big push ultimately. But since we have a new creative team in WWE right now, we may hope for a big push for Sami is waiting.
Sami Zayn who is also a former WWE NXT champion recently spoke to Die Woche where he gave his opinion on if he is more popular than Roman Reigns right now. Sami Zayn is currently working as a member of the Bloodline faction of WWE. He said;
“I wouldn’t say that. I wouldn’t say I’m more popular than Roman Reigns for sure because part of the reason I’m getting popular is because of the interaction with Roman Reigns and because the interactions have been enjoyable, I think that’s when the fans are beginning to warm up to me a little bit, right?
“But without him, it doesn’t work the same… When we come out there, we’re starting to kind of hear them single me out and cheer for me. I think that’s because they wanna see where that goes.
“They’re curious to see where that part of it goes which again, great and the fact that I just told you [at the] beginning of this interview, I was in New York City for a few days and New York’s a big wrestling town so I was getting stopped by fans a lot those two or three days and every one of them, it was like, ‘Honorary Uce!’ Honorary Uce’, you know?
“So they’re really, really digging this and I love it. I actually kind of did expect this storyline in a way to start to turn the fans’ perspective on me a little bit. But not this quick and not this much. It has been surprising for sure.”
