Jinder Mahal Movies and TV Shows

Mahal has worked in the famous ABC drama television series Big Sky. He made his debut on the show of its 22nd episode (“Heart-shaped Charm”) where he played the character of Dhruv who was the enforcer of Ren’s brother Jag. He appeared in a total of nine episodes of the show. He did not appear in any other shows yet.

Main Event Success, Demotion

Return to Independent Circuit

After getting released from WWE in 2014, Mahal returned to the independent circuit and remained active for a couple of years. He also won a number of big championships from the independent circuit. This time he was even more successful on the Independent circuit. In 2016 he was re-signed by WWE and he started working in the promotion again.

Return to WWE

He was given a completely new character this time and he was playing the role of a man of peace. It was more of a traditional Indian character who supported peace over violence. Even though he was still a villain in WWE, this character was pretty different, but it was pretty much forgotten to this date. He played this character for a number of months.

WWE Champion

In 2017 he got a shocking main event run. This was something that nobody was expecting to see at that point. He participated in a six pack challenge to determine the number one contender for the WWE championship and the match also involved Mojo Rawley, Dolph Ziggler, Erick Rowan, Luke Harper and Sami Zayn. He won the match and earned the opportunity to challenge Randy Orton for the WWE championship.

This incident started a feud between him and Randy Orton. He cost Orton his House of Horrors match against Bray Wyatt at the Payback event. On the very next event, which was WWE Backlash, he challenged Randy Orton for the WWE Championship. Mahal shocked the entire world when he defeated Randy Orton to win the WWE Championship. Most importantly it was a clean win.

Success as WWE Champion

The decision was massively criticized as Mahal could not succeed as a champion and ultimately he returned to his jobber status after dropping the Championship. Later, it was revealed that WWE wanted to cash in on the huge viewership of India. Mahal kept on retaining the championship for nearly six months and honestly, he had been a pretty good champion.

United States Champion

He had some excellent title defenses while being the champion but ultimately he dropped the Championship to AJ Styles in an episode of Smackdown in November. WWE tried to keep him on the main event scene even after he dropped the championship. He won the United States Championship at WrestleMania 34.

But things were not working for him. Ultimately he turned out to be a jobber again. He worked on various storylines but he suffered multiple injuries and it had been a big barrier before his growth. Right now he is working as the manager of the Indus Sher tag team and he has completely lost his push.

Iconic Quotes From Jinder Mahal

“At the end of the day, I write down an ‘L’ or a ‘W,’ whether or not the day was a ‘Loss’ or if it was a ‘Win.’ It really bothers you to have to write down an ‘L.’ An ‘L’ looks like a day I ate a lot of junk food, or I didn’t work out when I was supposed to or train when I was supposed to train, or if I felt that I had a bad performance in the ring.”

“There was originally no plan in place for me to become WWE champion. It felt like I became the No. 1 contender out of nowhere. I call what I did forcing the results. I wasn’t happy with my position. I was putting in the work, but I wasn’t getting the results. I was going to force the result no matter what the cost.”

“My uncle wrestled in the late ’80s to early ’90s, and I was too young to see his matches. However, he has always supported me in my journey, and I think that without his support, all this would not have been possible. He taught me a lot, and he is the reason that I’m a WWE wrestler.”

“In Birmingham, England, I had a match with Tyson Kidd, and Mick Foley was at ringside and delivered a socko to me at the end of the match. That was another one of those moments that, if you told me I would be in the ring with Mick Foley giving me a socko, I wouldn’t believe you.”

“I listen to a lot of audio books and business-related books. All of the great businessmen have one thing in common: they write down their goals. They keep a journal. Not only that, but I write down my goals, and I check it off: whether or not I ate right, work out, check it off.”

“Two months before I re-signed with WWE, I decided just out of nowhere that I will start dieting, to work on my body and train harder. I started focusing more. Two months later, WWE called me back to re-sign. That was not a coincidence but the universe telling me that I am ready.”

“I would love to take the WWE championship back to India. Nobody has ever taken a WWE championship to India, so just to think about the power that I would have to motivate the youth and to inspire a tremendous amount of people there is amazing.”
