The new World Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins opened this week’s RAW with former two times WWE World Champion AJ Styles confronting him in this segment. At Night of Champions, Seth Rollins defeated Styles to win the new World Heavyweight Championship and capture his fifth WWE World title.
When AJ Styles confronted Seth Rollins on his World Heavyweight Championship celebration in the opening segment of this week’s RAW, fans immediately thought he would challenge Rollins in a rematch for the World Heavyweight Championship but he only came to RAW just to congratulate Rollins following his big win.
At the end of the segment, Rollins and Styles got confronted by Judgment Day and they challenged the unlikely duo in a Tag Team match. The match actually took place on the main event of this week’s RAW and the babyface duo was able to master the evil force of Judgment Day.
A number of fans are not happy with this surprise appearance of Styles on RAW this week. WWE recently organized the WWE Draft 2023 and fans were expecting a big change. But nothing changed so far. The Tag Team titles are still unified and the champions are moving brand to brand freely.
There were rumours that Triple H wanted to do a hard brand split following this year’s draft. But nothing changed after the draft apart from the introduction of the new World Heavyweight Championship. It is almost the exact same thing as it was before the draft.
PWInsider‘s Mike Johnson reported that this last call of bringing AJ Styles on RAW was a call from none other than Vince McMahon whose product was not being able to satisfy the fans lately. Previously, Fightful Select reported that Vince McMahon is making changes last minute as he is taking full control once again.
AJ Styles’ appearance on RAW was already criticized by a large number of fans as they wanted to see more brand specific shows. Previously Vince managed the brand split terribly. Introduction of rules like Wildcard totally killed it. Now, it is pretty much confirmed that there will be no hard brand split, at least as long as Vince is in charge.
