This week’s SmackDown started as The American Nightmare Cody Rhodes came out to the arena. He said that he had a lot of respect for Roman Reigns and he was looking forward to meet him next week on Monday Night RAW. He also said that he could not wait to be him at WrestleMania 39.
Cody Rhodes called out Kevin Owens next as he had something to say to the former WWE Universal Heavyweight champion. Kevin Owens came out to the arena and when he was about to say something, Cody stop them and said that it was going to be a conversation between three men and he called out Sami Zayn.
WWE SmackDown 17.03.2023 Results & Ratings Part 1
Cody said that he had a lot of respect for Kevin Owens since he helped him a lot when he needed friends. He said that this time he needed to talk to his old friend Sami Zayn. Sami they needed to get on the same page. He asked Kevin to do whatever he wanted, even if he wanted to punch him on the face he asked him to do it. But at the end of the day they needed to get to be together again.
Cody added that it was never about what they wanted, it was about what all the people wanted, and all of them wanted to see them together. Sami say that they did not need to be friends again but they should be together to take down The Usos.
Owens said that he had been saying this from a long time. He needed him and Cody to take down the Bloodline. There was nothing new in it. But he did not want to be someone who did not want him as a friend so his answer still remained no. He handed his mic over to Cody and left.
Backstage on Smackdown Kevin Owens was leaving on his car, Sami Zayn confronted him once again and said he needed to forget everything he said in the ring. They were friends and they would always be friends. In fact they were not only friends, they were brothers. No matter what Owens wanted, Sami wanted him to know that he loved him. Owens did not answer and left.
Match 1 – Mixed Tag Team Match – The Judgment Day defeated Legado Del Fantasma
On the first tag team match on tonight’s Smackdown, Dominik Mysterio teamed up with Rhea Ripley take on the team of Santos Escobar and Zelina Vega. The match was booked for five and a half minutes and it was an average match. No team in particular dominated the match. At the end, Rhea pinned Zelina with the Riptide.
After the match on tonight’s Smackdown, Dominik Mysterio started talking about his father once again and once again he explained how terrible of a father he was. Rey Mysterio came out to the arena. Dominik started loathing him on his face once again, the thing that he had been doing for months.
Rey Mysterio said that he might not have been the best father in the world but Dominik meant world to him. Dominik, his mother and sister had a life that Rey could only dream of. He also said that this business is selfish, it required sacrifices and soon Dominik would understand it too.
Rey said that if any other kid like him disrespected him like he did, he would have teach him a good lesson. But he could not do it to him since he was his son and he was not going to fight him ever, and Rey left the ring. Dominik kept on provoking him from behind but Rey did not stop.
Match 2 – Raquel Rodriguez and Liv Morgan defeated Emma and Tegan Nox
This was a qualifying match for the WrestleMania showcase fatal 4 way tag team match. Such a match will take place for men too. We do not know the point of this match yet. It is not a Tag Team Championship match neither any qualification match. About this match, it was a short match and an easy win for Liv and Raquel. Liv pinned Emma with The Oblivion.
