Next up on Smackdown was the segment to promote the WWE SmackDown Women’s championship match at WrestleMania 39. The first half of the segment was pretty boring where Charlotte came out to talk about how great she had been throughout these years at WrestleMania.
Rhea Ripley interfered her and she explain why she decided to choose Charlotte Flair over Bianca Belair. She guaranteed everyone that she would be her down at WrestleMania 39 and take her title away. She then hit Charlotte directly on the face. As she was about to leave, Charlotte attacked her. The fight between the duo continued for a while as official had to come out to stop them. Finally they are doing something to promote this feud. At least this scenario in better than the RAW Women’s Championship.
WWE SmackDown 17.03.2023 Results & Ratings Part 2
Match 3 – Xavier Woods defeated LA Knight
This match was pretty short, it was booked for only two and a half minutes. The match was mostly dominated by Knight but at the end, Xavier Woods picked up a shocking victory when he pinned Knight with a Roll Up. It did not look like they would have any plans to continue it as a feud.
Match 4 – Sheamus vs. Drew McIntyre went to a double disqualification
This match was scheduled to determine the number one contender for the WWE Intercontinental Championship at WrestleMania 39. But as expected, the match did not come out with a winner. Math went on for 9 minutes and Imperium attacked both of them leading the match to a double disqualification.
After the end of the match, Gunther beat down both Sheamus and Drew McIntyre. As he was leaving the arena, Adam Pearce appeared on the big screen and announced that there will be a triple threat match at WrestleMania 39 for the WWE Intercontinental championship. It was already reported earlier that this match is going to take place at WrestleMania 39.
Next of was the much awaited confrontation between Jey Uso and Sami Zayn. Sami Zayn asked Jey his part of the story, why he betrayed him. Jey said that from day one he did not like him. Jimmy, Solo, even Roman Reigns liked him. But at the end he started liking him and he was the only one who stood for him.
Sami said it was all a lie. He had a choice, but he decided to swallow all the abuses from Roman Reigns. Jey said that he was right about him at first, he was never loyal to the Bloodline. Sami no more remorse, he said that Jey was only upset because he could not pull the trigger on him at first but Roman did.
Jey had enough and he finally attack Sami Zayn. Sami quickly fought back, as he was beating down Jey, Jimmy also entered the frame and The Usos started beating down Sami together. Sami try to fight back but the two on one assault was to heavy for him to survive.
Kevin Owens came out to the arena. He finally stood for his friend and he beat down The Usos single handedly. After taking them out of the ring, Owens and Sami stood face to face. Finally Owens hugged Sami and the whole arena burst into cheer. Cody Rhodes was seen backstage watching it on television and he looked really happy and satisfied. Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn stood strong in the ring as this week’s SmackDown went off air. The Tag Team Championship match for WrestleMania 39 is still not announced but it is pretty much happening.
Overall it was another average week of Smackdown with the final segment of the night being excellent. The matches were nothing mentionable. The intercontinental championship segment for WrestleMania 39 was good but it was already reported earlier, everybody know what was going to happen.
Good to see some of the women of the roster is finally getting some opportunity tonight. The Smackdown Women’s Championship segment for WrestleMania 39 started in a boring way but ended in a good way. An honestly we are really getting bored with the family drama of the Mysterios. This is really enough, every week it had been the same old thing.
Once again we need to talk about it, there was no Roman Reigns again. After Elimination Chamber, he made only one or two appearances. This had been the worst ever WrestleMania main event build up ever. Cody is doing his best to promote it, but Roman had been extremely lazy. We must say it again, WWE should be ashamed of themselves to put their World titles to someone like him. We give this week’s Smackdown 2 out of 5.
