So here it is, the biggest match of the show, the most hyped match of WrestleMania XL, the match that everyone had been waiting for; Roman Reigns vs. Cody Rhodes II. The match that WWE had been building for more than a year, big stars like The Rock, Seth Rollins, and others were involved in this storyline, it had everything.
Last year, Cody Rhodes won the men’s Royal Rumble match and challenged Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 39. He was really close to beating ‘The Head of the Table’ but Solo Sikoa helped him illegally and cost Cody the biggest opportunity of his career. Cody did not lose his big push and they kept him ready for tonight’s big match.

Last night, Cody Rhodes teamed up with Seth Rollins to take on the team of The Rock and Roman Reigns. The Bloodline picked up the victory in this match to make tonight’s main event a Bloodline Rules match. So anything goes tonight, anyone can interfere, anyone can do anything. Did Cody Rhodes finally managed to do the unthinkable or once again it was Roman Reigns’ show? Let us find out.
They booked half of the show for the first five matches and this one match was booked for the rest of the show. This is the hype that this match was given. Everybody expected a lot of surprises in this match including interferences from legends. WWE did their best to keep the unpredictability alive for this match.
The match had a slow start much like most of the Roman Reigns matches. But this one picked up pace faster than his other matches. Jimmy Uso came out to help Roman Reigns after around 22 minutes of the bell rang. But Jey Uso came out to take out his twin brother. Once again, it was a plain one on one match.
There had been back to back near falls, as expected, finishers were stolen. This match was a complete package. Once Cody finally got the ultimate control, Solo Sikoa interfered in favor of Roman Reigns. But John Cena surprised the entire world by making a surprise appearance and he also took out Solo Sikoa.
As soon as Cena took out Solo Sikoa, ‘The Final Boss’ The Rock appeared. The Rock took out Cena and when he was about to take out Cody Rhodes, The Shield music hit and everybody was in utter shock! But it was Seth Rollins in the Shield attire who was taken out by Roman Reigns quickly. There was no Dean Ambrose.
And then the Undertaker appeared to take out The Rock. So many surprise returns back to back. As every surprise entrant was out of the scene, once again it was between Roman Reigns and Cody Rhodes. This time, it happened, three back to back Cross Rhodes, Roman Reigns is pinned. The streak is over; Cody Rhodes is your new WWE Universal Champion. Cody Rhodes celebrated with everyone as WrestleMania XL went off the air.
