Former eleven times WWE Tag Team Champion Xavier Woods aka King Woods who is the winner of the King of the Ring tournament 2021 recently talked about the legendary professional Tag Team Billy and Chuck. He also talked about a potential singles run. He said he has to prove himself as a single competitor.
Billy and Chuck was a famous Tag Team from the late Attitude Era and the early Ruthless Aggression era. It was the team of Billy Gunn and Chuck Palumbo. Together they have won the WWE Tag Team Championship two times in total.
Xavier Woods Shares His Love For Billy And Chuck
They mostly played by heel persona and fans loved see this tag team on screen. Their gimmick was quite controversial back in the time. They played homosexual persona. Such gimmicks are not very common in WWE nowadays.
Woods also said that he would like to prove himself as a singles competitor. WWE is trying to build him as a worthy singles competitor since he is the only wrestler from the New Day stable who is yet to win a major World Championship in WWE.
His first and only singles success in WWE is winning King of the Ring tournament 2021. He had a short feud with WWE Universal heavyweight champion Roman Reigns as well. But there is a fat chance that WWE would ever book him as a potential World Champion.
He had a singles run mainly because of the time of that Kofi Kingston took recently. Once Kofi is back, they have paired once again. Recently they fought in a triple threat tag team match including both Tag Team champions of WWE to decide the best Tag Team WWE which they won.
Maybe WWE is ready to continue them as a tag team once again. They are currently involved in a feud with The Usos for The Smackdown Tag Team Championships. Surely they will win the title soon. So it might not be the time for Woods to have a singles run yet.

“It’s been really cool, obviously because I haven’t had the chance to have a singles run in the company yet and the focus has always been on tag team wrestling. Even when I was a kid, I was just obsessed with it. Billy and Chuck were my favorite tag team. I freaking loved them.
“People always laugh when I say that, but when you go back and think about it, that was a situation where we had a team that hit the scene and it wasn’t necessarily, ‘Oh, these guys are world-beaters and they’re going to be champions.’
“They evolved into one of the most entertaining teams we could see and they had a full main event segment with them getting married as partners with a reveal. with Eric Bischoff. It’s hard for tag teams to get that position where they not only get to have cool matches but where they get to be in the middle of the most important stuff on the show.
“It’s been a blast getting that spotlight, and going out, and talking a little bit more, and wrestling a little bit more because this is my life. This is what I do, this is what I enjoy. And to be in a position where I can really start to show off the things not only that I can do, but also that I’ve learned over the years from being a part of the company, is really cool.”
