Know About The Significance Of The Three Stars On Team India Jersey 1

While there are very few things in Indian cricket that go unnoticed by the cricket-obsessed fans of India, we are pretty sure that many of the fans have failed to notice a subtle detail on Team India’s limited-overs jersey. From streets to stadiums, the famous blue jersey of the Indian team symbolizes the pride for the fans and the makers of the jersey have also made it sure to go the extra mile to let the fans take pride in the famous blue jersey.

And perhaps that was the reason behind the makers’ decision to put three shining stars above the BCCI logo on the jersey.

However, very few know the significance of those three stars. Well, you do not have to wait much anymore as we are now going to reveal the answer.

The three stars embroidered on the jersey symbolises India’s three victories in the three World Cups. India’s maiden World Cup win had come in 1983 when the Kapil Dev-led side had stunned the formidable West Indies before MS Dhoni led the Men in Blue to World T20 title in 2007 and the 50-overs World Cup in 2011.

Current India captain Virat Kohli had once emphasised the importance of wearing the jersey and had gone on to say that he felt honoured to be a part of the team that has won three World Cup.

“I know there’s a billion-plus hope always riding on our team. That’s why I try to play with responsibility and with respect to the team’s needs. The pressure’s always on, so my focus has to be too,” he had said.

“I feel really proud – for me the Three Stars on the jersey represents what the Indian team is today and how much they have achieved. I feel really honoured to be a part of a team that has won three World Cups,” he had added.
