If Sachin Tendulkar is remembered for his straight drives, Ricky Ponting is remembered for his pulls shots and Sourav Ganguly mesmerized the fans with his cover drives, then Mahendra Singh Dhoni is surely loved by the cricket fans for his trademark helicopter shot.
When MS Dhoni arrived on the international stage, he made a name for himself with that very helicopter shot and the shot has now become a part of the Indian cricketing folklore after the 36-year old fired the nation to the World Cup glory with that very shot at the Wankhede in 2011.
Well, there is absolutely no denying the fact that the fans die to see the batting star play that shot. Now, it looks like; not only the fans but also the Indian players are big-time fans of Mahendra Singh Dhoni’s helicopter shot. And one such fan is none other than his successor, Virat Kohli, as the current India skipper was seen giving his predecessor an interesting welcome when he walked into bat at the nets prior to the first One-Day International against Sri Lanka on Sunday (August 20).
Kohli was hitting the bowlers all around in the nets before Dhoni came to bat. And as soon as Dhoni walked inside the net, Kohli began rotating his arms over his head, probably a gesture to tell Dhoni to go all out in the practice session. The video was posted by BCCI’s Twitter handle.
