Fast-bowler Mohammed Shami has joined the Indian team in Dharamsala ahead of the fourth Test against Australia, fueling speculations he might play the final Test.
The Bengal pacer, whose last appearance for India had come during the third Test against England in November last year during which he suffered a knee injury, returned to action during the Vijay Hazare Trophy. The speedster played two games in the 50-over tournament, including the final where he took 4/26 but could not inspire his team to the title win.
His performance in the match was a big indication that the 27-year-old was getting back to his best and he has now landed in Dharamsala, where India will take on Australia in the fourth and final Test which gets underway from March 25.
Shami confirmed the news through his Instagram account. Uploading a picture of the Himalayas, he wrote: “Beautiful good morning in dharamshala”.

Meanwhile, India skipper Virat Kohli had already indicated the fit-again right-arm pacer can make the cut when the team locks horns against the Aussies to reclaim the Border-Gavaskar series.
“We sent him to play, wanted to give him match practice. I’ve not spoken to selectors but all kinds of possibility are there approaching the next Test,” Kohli had said after the Ranchi Test.
