India captain MS Dhoni has simply ruled out suggestions the ICC World Cup 2015 will be his last international cricketing event. Dhoni had stepped down from Test cricket during his side’s recent 2-0 series loss to Australia but emphasized that he is not considering quitting limited-overs internationals as well.
Dhoni asked this in Sydney on Sunday “My Test retirement has really excited you.”
Clarifying his stand weather had he even contemplated retiring? The reply was “No, no, no.” This amply justifies his determination to continue playing for the country.
Dhoni’s prime responsibility at the moment is to get his team looking more like defending World Cup champions. Although they are ready to go into next month’s World Cup as the Number 2-ranked ODI side but lately they have been thrashed by both Australia and England in the current Tri-Series. Therefore the encounter with Australia has become crucial but their inconsistent Indian bowling attack still remains questionable.
India have had a pretty busy schedule and had little time off since landing in Australia in December, with a four-Test series flowing straight into the current competition. However they have enjoyed a six-day break following their loss to England in Brisbane.
Dhoni narrated “What’s important is to switch on and switch off and breaks like these really help you do that. We made sure the practice session we had was slightly more tough and more realistic. You give them good breaks and you want the sessions to be more purposeful.”
It appears that despite the fact that Team India has not been able to attain victory in this away tour so far (and the chances in tri series are not very bright) but in case each one of the player utilizes the exposure so gained fruitfully in the World Cup, Team India can still grab the cup. A bit of luck, hard work fighting spirit and determination with positive approach will surely yield the desired results.
