This Sunday, we will witness the WWE championship up for the grabs, as Bray Wyatt and Randy Orton will fight it out. As announced earlier, the contest will be held in a first-time ever gimmick in the WWE i.e. a House of Horrors match.
Wyatt came up with this idea after Wrestlemania and Orton accepted it to gift us a special match at the Payback.
We have expected some sort of hints of how this match would be contested in either Raw or Smackdown Live programming, this week. But, that was not the case since Wyatt was busy cutting his eerie promos and never confronted Orton, physically. So, we still don’t have any clue about this gimmick match.
However, the veteran wrestling journalist, Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer Newsletter did throw some lights indicating how WWE intends to organise it.
He stated that some parts of this match will be pre-taped, whereas, the other part will take place on live television. Assumingly, it is going to be the finishing segment of the match which might happen at the real time.
This would be something like a brawl at the Wyatt compound or an open compound. The taped segment from a haunted compound will come down to the ring with the contest still ongoing.
Supposedly, the match should be contested under Falls Count Anywhere or No Disqualification match where the winner will be crowned via pinfall or submission. This would be the final chapter in the Orton vs. Wyatt rivalry.
Previously, we have seen such pre-taped shots when The New Day went to the Wyatt compound or prior to Wrestlemania when Randy Orton burnt down the house where Sister Abigail’s soul laid in peace.
Also, a compound match took place, last year when the Hardy Boyz battled each other at their compound.
These kinds of segments were originally supposed to take place back in the Attitude Era as revealed by Edge and Christian on their podcast. They stated that WWE creative head Michaels Hayes wanted to pit both of them in such a match when they were part of The Brood. However, that never turned into a reality.
