On Saturday night, Mumbai Indians (MI) booked their berth in IPL 2017 playoffs after clinching a thrashing victory against Delhi Daredevils (DD) in Delhi. After winning the toss, DD sent MI to bat first. MI put a big total of 212/3 at the end of 20 overs.

In reply, DD’s batting line-up collapsed for just 66 runs, as MI won this match by 146 runs.

  1. During this match, MI pacer Lasith Malinga (151 wickets) completed taking 150 wickets in his IPL career. Malinga became the first bowler in IPL history to take 150 or more wickets.

 

  1. DD was bowled out for just 66 runs. It is the 3rd lowest total in IPL history. On the other hand, the previous lowest total for DD was 67 (17.1 overs) against KXIP (Kings XI Punjab)  in Mohali on 30th April 2017.

 

  1. During DD’s innings, all the dismissals were caught. It is the second time in IPL history when all the dismissals in an innings were caught. The first such incident happened in the match between RPS (Rising Pune Supergiant) and DD at Pune on 11th April 2017 where all the 10 dismissals in RPS’ innings were caught.

 

  1. MI won this match by 146 runs. It is the largest victory (by runs) for a team in IPL history. The previous record holder was RCB (Royal Challengers Bangalore) who had won by 144 runs against GL (Gujarat Lions) at Bengaluru on 14th May 2016.

In overall, it (winning by 146 runs) is the 5th largest victory (by runs) for a team in T20 history.
