Two weeks have gone by since Alexa Bliss has won the Raw women’s championship at the Payback PPV.
As reported earlier, there were some serious conflicts over the WWE creative while deciding the winner of the match. They went back and forth to make the final decision. It is being speculated that it was changed for four times till the day of the PPV, itself.
A number of fans might be unhappy with Bayley losing the championship, thus early. But, to avoid a clean pinfall from Alexa Bliss, they came up with an injury purpose for the Hugger in between the match.
As a result, we have witnessed Bayley put her shoulder first into the ring post and later selling it for the rest of the match. Bliss capitalised by the help of it after connecting with a DDT. This made her the first ever woman to hold both the Raw and Smackdown women’s championship.
Now, with that being said, we should be looking forward to Bliss’ first title defence which should take place at the Extreme Rules PPV, next month. WWE has not given any updates regarding who will be her opponent.
Rather, last week, the champion confronted all the women available in the roster to attack them verbally. Her disrespectful words to Bayley were to garner the heel heat from the audience in order to cope up with the championship-winning momentum.
Since she is so good at it, WWE creative does not plan to take the title away from her, early. But, that means Bayley should be away from the title for a short time. In the meantime, she would face Sasha Banks and Mickie James for the title with successful retention.
The creative, however, is still keeping the Bayley vs. Sasha banks program intact that it would happen, later this year. To ensure this, Bayley would pick up the title prior to Summerslam. This mega feud then will headline the women’s division at the summer’s biggest event.
This one might get postponed depending on how Alexa Bliss’ championship reign turns out to be. If she keeps up with the good work then there are chances that Alexa Bliss might head into Summerslam as the champion, as well.
In that case, Sasha vs. Bayley would be reserved for later the year.
