Golf lovers are awaiting an exciting week of world-class golfing action as the top golfers from the Asian Tour and European Tour have gathered at the Black Mountain for the inaugural True Thailand Classic.
At the end of Round 4, on Sunday DODT Andrew and Hend Scott of Australia lead at number 1 and 2. Highest ranking by an Indian was taken by Shiva Kapur of India at joint 11th position with 3 others improving from 20th position.
Jyoti Randhawa is dropped down to a joint 15th with five others from 10th position on Saturday. Anirban Lahiri is placed joint 21st with 3 others moving up from 48th position. Arjun Atwal is placed joint 31st with 6 others. SSP Chowrasia was placed at 77th position and Gagan Bhullar and Ganjee Rahil at joint 96th position. Rashid Khan at 108th and Jeev Milkha Singh was placed at 120th position out of 150 contenders.
At the end of third round, Karlberg bounced back from yesterday’s round to post an impressive four under par 68 which included six birdies and a few more opportunities to slice yet another two or three strokes off his scorecard. Karlberg heads into the final round at a total of six under par, seven shots behind Swedish leader and world number two Henrik Stenson.
On Saturday, 14th February, after the third round the situation changed for better to veteran Jyoti Randhawa. He finished joint ninth. Randhwa’s last win on Asian Tour was in 2009. Now he is 10 under 200, five shots behind Scot Hend of Australia at 15 under for 54 holes. Shiv Kapur finished shared 20th position, jumping from 29th to 20th. Anirban Lahiri continued to share 48th position with nine others.
There were nine Indians participating in inaugural US$ 2million True Thailand Classic in Hua Hin, Thailnad. Shiv Kapur, Arujn Atwal, Jyoti Randhawa, Anirban Lahiri, SSSP Chowrasia, Gangnajit Bhullar, Rahit Ganjee, Rashid Khan, Jeev Milkha Singh.
At the end of the second round, Five Indians made the midway cut. Shiva Kapur was placed at 29th place, followed by Arjun at 35th place, Jyoti Randhwa and Anirban Lahiri at 48th position and SSP Chowrasia at 64th position. The vagaries of Golf is such that stalwarts like Jeev Milkha Singh tied in 120th position missed the cut after the second round along with Gangnajit Bhullar, Rahit Ganjee tied 94th position and Rashid Khan ties at 104th position.
