T20 Franchises Across Globe To Target 'Without Contract' Australian Players 1

The Australia Cricketer’s Association (ACA) has sent out a warning to the Cricket Australia that they might lose out on the services of their key players if a revamped pay model isn’t presented.

With the current contract coming to an end on June 30th, the players will be without any official contract if the tiff between the players and the board continues. As per the reports, various franchises are keeping a close eye on Australian players after the completion of Champions Trophy.

The pay dispute issue caught much air after James Sutherland, the Chief Executive of Cricket Australia in an e-mail to players clearly stated they have to agree to the conditions of CA or else the board won’t pay.

It is the unity of the players which is making this movement even stronger, as all members of the side are speaking in one voice and are keen to make Cricket Australia agree to their terms and agreements.

In the worst case, CA could also see players boycotting the Summer Ashes to be played in Australia where England will come as defending Ashes Champion.

Ian Chappell, the former Australia cricketer is delighted after watching Australian cricketers standing hand in hand against Cricket Australia for their rights as he said,

“I’m delighted the players are sticking together and staying strong on it,” Chappell told AAP. “From afar it looks as though the board are trying to splinter the players, which I find a rather strange tactic. Maybe the board thought ‘you know what the players are like. They were working on the theory of greed, that you keep the top blokes happy with money and they won’t care about the rest. It looks like they’ve picked the wrong target.”

Incidentally, it was Ian Chappel who was one of the prominent players during the World Series Cricket announced by Kerry Packer in the year 1977.

At present, Australian cricketers are in England for the Champions trophy but they have clearly stated that the pay issues will have no impact on their form in the ICC tournament.
