Reports: Arsene Wenger To Be Handed Two-Year Contract Extension!! 1

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has already agreed the terms of his two-year contract extension, according to reports. With Wenger’s contract with the Gunners coming to an end this summer, speculations were rife over the future of the long-serving manager but ESPN FC has reported that the Frenchman has confirmed his loyalty to the club for two more years.

Mark Ogden of ESPN FC has claimed that Wenger and the club finalised the deal way back in November but refrained from making it official.

” Wenger wants to remain at the helm and that the broad outline of an extended contract was agreed, but not signed, six months ago,” the news outlet claims to have heard from a source.

The report further added that Wenger is set to meet with the Arsenal board on Tuesday (May 30) to sort out his future at the Emirates. The veteran manager recently led the Gunners to a record 13th FA Cup title with a 2-1 win over bitter-rivals Chelsea on Saturday (May 27).

Speaking after the win, Wenger had said that he still believed he was the best man to manage Arsenal.

“The best presentation is to watch the game,” Wenger had said after the win in Wembley when he was asked if he would be preparing a presentation for the meeting with the club officials.

“I’ve played until the end of my contract, which is today basically. I think I have shown you that I have exactly the same commitment.

“For me, the contract does not have special meaning but, because of the debate, maybe I should have sorted that out earlier,” he had added.

Earlier in the season, Wenger was under immense pressure after his team squandered another good start to the season and failed to end their long wait for the Premier League title. The faltering title challenge was coupled with yet another exit from the round-of-16 from the Champions League after a humiliating 10-2 aggregate defeat against Bayern Munich.

All this resulted in anti-Wenger sentiment among a certain section of the Emirate faithful. In fact, the club was also linked with several top mangers especially Juventus boss Massimiliano Allegri to replace Wenger but latest signs are indicating that the Frenchman is set to enjoy a couple of years with the club.
