WWE News: Major Announcements Made For Smackdown & Money In The Bank PPV 1

No wonder why Smackdown Live is considered to be the A-show in WWE TV programming despite the fact that Raw is the flagship show.

On last night’s episode of Smackdown Live, the commissioner, Shane McMahon came up with a series of announcements that made the fans head over heels for the Tuesday Night’s show.

After Shinsuke Nakamura pinned the United States Champion, Kevin Owens for consecutive two weeks, he made a singles competition between the two of them official. It will be the main event for next week’s Smackdown Live.

This is another dream match for the WWE Universe. Both Owens and Nakamura had their history in Japan back when they used to perform for the NJPW (New Japan Pro-wrestling). They had never faced each other in singles competition on WWE TV programming making it a first-time for both of them on the main roster.

Plus, history will be made at the Money in the Bank PPV when all of the Smackdown women’s division sans the champion will participate in a first-ever Money in the Bank women’s ladder match.

Last night, a fatal-5-way match was scheduled to crown a new number one contender for Naomi’s title. Instead of getting into the match, the five women started to fight each other at the ringside area making an utter chaos.

This led the commissioner to come out a make the ladder match official for the upcoming Smackdown-exclusive PPV in June. Although it was not confirmed, it is likely that Charlotte, Natalya, Carmella, Becky Lynch and Tamina will be the five participants for this one.

WWE.com posted the following update congratulating the five probable competitors for the match:

“The SmackDown LIVE Women’s division is once again about to prove just how ground-breaking it can be. At WWE Money in the Bank, Charlotte, Natalya, Carmella, Becky Lynch and Tamina will compete in the first-ever Women’s Money in the Bank Ladder Match.”

In addition, after The New Day showed up on Smackdown Live, they were named the number one contender’s for the tag team championships. So, the match between them and The Usos have been made official to take place at the Money in the Bank PPV.
