Tonight, we will witness a first-ever fatal-5-way match in the main event of WWE PPV.
As part of the 2017 edition of the Extreme Rules PPV, we witness this contest which is being promoted as the match which is set to change the course of the new era. The prize of winning this contest is bigger than ever, as he will get a shot to the most coveted prize of the flagship brand.
Roman Reigns, Seth Rollins, Finn Balor, Bray Wyatt and Samoa Joe will participate in the matchup which will determine the official challenger for the Universal Championship. Although it has not been confirmed by the WWE, the winner is going to challenge Brock Lesnar for the Universal title at the Great Balls of Fire PPV in July.
Quite obviously, the hype around this match is much bigger. Everyone is giving their opinion as of who is the favourite one to win the contest on this Sunday. Recently, Wrestling Observer Newsletter has noted something regarding this big bout.
On their show, the veteran journalist, Dave Meltzer noted that the match is simply being used to sell out the second Raw-exclusive PPV following Wrestlemania. The winner of the match is not going to make any profit from the win since the beast will have an easy win over him.
The source noted that WWE Creative is still intact in their planning with Braun Strowman and Brock Lesnar. The match for the Universal Championship is still fixed to take place at this year’s Summerslam PPV. So, there’s no way that the champion is dropping it, sooner.
Meltzer also claimed that Lesnar might end up having another squash match against his opponent like he always does. His reckless image will be visible to the audience, firsthand when he returns to action at the inaugural PPV on July 9th in Dallas, Texas.
For now, Seth Rollins and Finn Balor are the favourite ones to win the fatal-5-way match at Extreme Rules. But, their victory is going to be a temporary one once Lesnar resurfaces on Raw. He is going to victimise his opponent in the most dominant way possible.
