Cometh the hour, cometh the man. The man under the question is none other than the evergreen Yuvraj Singh.

India blazed off to a colossal 319-3 on board in a rain-affected game where only 48 overs were bowled in India’s innings. The game was shadowed by the sheer brilliance of the Indian top order, as the top four scored fine half-centuries to propel the side to a massive score.

Things got off smoothly, thanks to Shikhar Dhawan and Rohit Sharma putting up a century stand for the first wicket, something similar to what they did in India’s first game of the previous Champions Trophy. There a phase in between, however, when India slowed down and Rohit Sharma was struggling in the middle.

After Sharma was dismissed, India needed a momentum kick and it was Yuvraj Singh who delivered with a stunning half-century. Rolling back the years in his vintage style, Yuvraj toyed the Pakistani bowlers to all parts of Birmingham, as due to his knock, skipper Virat Kohli too found some confidence.

After his enthralling 53 off 32 deliveries, Yuvraj admitted that he was delighted to perform when the situation needed. Delivering in the big game, he said.

“Lucky got dropped but capitalised in the end. The partnership between Rohit and Shikhar allowed us to bat deep. The ball was reversing a bit. So, was standing on off.”

“If they bowled in my areas, I would hit it. It is a very good batting wicket. Due to the rain interruptions, you have to give yourself time. Hopefully, when we bowl we pick up early wickets,” said a delighted Yuvraj Singh.
