The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has cleared reports of the Cricket Advisory Committee (CAC) asking for a compensation for selecting the Head Coach of Indian cricket team. In a letter issued by BCCI CEO Rahul Johri, he has mentioned that the claims made in newspaper Indian Express are wrong and CAC hasn’t asked for any sort of monetary benefits.
“The Indian Express Newspaper of 11th June (today), carries a news item stating that there was a claim by the members of the Cricket Advisory Committee (CAC), for being compensated for their meetings held to select a head coach for the Indian Cricket Team. BCCI wishes to clarify that there has been no such claim and the story carried by the newspaper is totally baseless and devoid of facts.
The contents of this article are malicious and such attempts to dilute and misrepresent the continued contribution of these former legends of Indian Cricket are totally incorrect and unfounded.
BCCI wishes to reiterate the fact that the guidance and recommendations of the CAC are invaluable for the betterment of Indian cricket and we urge the publication to withdraw the said article and make suitable amends,” a BCCI statement reads.
Earlier, Indian Express reported that CAC comprising of Sachin Tendulkar, Sourav Ganguly and VVS Laxman has delivered a message to BCCI CEO Rahul Johri to pay them for their services. The decision was left over to COA but BCCI took no time to clear all the rumours.
CAC had a meeting to discuss the new coach for the side after the game against India and Sri Lanka. They will ink upon the new coach soon after the conclusion of Champions trophy. Anil Kumble is likely to retain the spot.
Virender Sehwag, Dodda Ganesh, Lalchand Rajput, Richard Pybus, Tom Moody and McDremott are another contenders for the job.
