It was the year 2000 and during the ICC knockout tournament that this young man made his debut for team India, scoring 84* against Australia and since then the name Yuvraj Singh has never ever been forgotten.

He has been an enigma as well as a paradox in Indian Cricket. The 18-year-old who was not intimidated by Glenn McGrath, Brett Lee and even Jason Gillespie at their peak in his first ODI innings. Who can forget his match-winning innings at the Lords in the NatWest finals in 2002 when everything seemed lost.

Also, the classic 139 at the Sydney Cricket Ground against an attack comprising Lee, Gillespie and Andy Bichel when chasing 300+ score in ODI wasn’t a myth either.

In the 2011 World Cup, he Coughed blood, suffered, yet took 15 wickets and scored 300 odd runs to take the team to the pinnacle of success, A player of the series. He coming off good with both bat and bowl and under sensitive circumstances always inspired many.

Apart from a potential clash with Pakistan in the final, the semi-final marks yet another landmark for the stylish left-handed batsman, as he played his 300th ODI. He’s played some prolific knocks over the years at home and abroad and has built an unmatched persona in the Indian dressing room. Several teammates have taken to Twitter to congratulate India’s best match-winner.

Batting legend Sachin Tendulkar also took a walk down memory lane, as he recalled a few memorable knocks of Yuvraj. In a video uploaded by the International Cricket Council recently, Tendulkar focused on Yuvi’s debut knock against Australia.

Today, the veteran took to Twitter to write a few lines for this beast calling him a person who embodies spirit. Sachin wrote,

“If there’s one word that personifies @YUVSTRONG12, it’s resilience and he embodies this spirit…”

He posted this along with a picture with Yuvraj. This surely did take us back down our memory lanes.
