Slammiversary is going to be the first PPV of 2017 from the Impact Wrestling promotion. It is the biggest event of the year on behalf of their company, as well. Quite expectedly, the officials of the promotion are leaving no stones unturned to hype it as big as possible in the remaining time.
Jeff Jarrett, the Chief Officer of the brand was promoting the event during this weekend where he came up with a surprise announcement. According to him, Impact is going to bring one of the most influential people residing in Orlando, Florida will be a part of the event. He teased that “the most powerful, influential resident of Orlando, Florida” is going to be associated with the Slammiversary event.
Now, the rumour mill started to find out who that man is going to be soon after the announcement was made. Reports from No-DQ and WrestlingNewsSource.com suggested that Impact Wrestling is trying to bring none other than Shaquille O’Neil at the 15th anniversary of the event set to take place on July 2nd.
It was not disclosed that in which capacity the NBA legend will be brought on the show. Supposedly, he is going to feature in one of the segments at the event. Considering that Shaq is not new to the world of the pro-wrestling, he might involve in a physical altercation, as well.
Previously, Shaquille O’Neil made an appearance at Wrestlemania 32 during the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal in Dallas, Texas. He confronted Big Show in the match to set up a contest at this year’s Wrestlemania in Orlando, Florida. But, due to some money issues between Shaq and WWE the match never happened.
The NBA veteran was frustrated with this happening and declared his disgust to the WWE. So, it will be a master plan from the Impact Wrestling owners to bring him on their show to establish a good relationship with him.
The Slammiversary PPV will be held at the Impact Zone in Orlando, Florida on the above-mentioned date. By bringing in Shaquille O’Neil, the promotion is trying to garner some mainstream attention.
Previously, the world champion, Bobby Lashley has invited the US President, Donald Trump for the same purpose. He will feature in the main event of the show against Alberto Del Rio at the event.
