Cricket Australia’s list of leading ODI players for the 2016-17 calendar has no Indian name in it. The news might come as a huge surprise for the fans in India. The list has been divided into three parts – Top 5 Batsmen, Top 5 Bowlers and Top 3 Wicket Keepers. Indian cricketers have no representation in all three categories.
Statically speaking, India definitely has nothing to claim. Apart from Indian skipper Virat Kohli, who scored 931 runs at an average of 93.10 in 16 innings, no other batsmen from India have had an extraordinary run last season.
Shikhar Dhawan (507 runs from 11 matches), MS Dhoni (386 runs from 12 matches) and Yuvraj Singh (372 runs from 12 matches) who have a considerable record this year. Although, these numbers aren’t impressive to a great extent by current standards. In terms of average, Rohit Sharma, with 304 runs from just five matches at an average of 76, stands with the most impressive overall number this year.
The batting chart is led by Australia vice-captain David Warner. The attacking left-hander has scored 1,323 runs at an average of 63.00 in 22 innings including seven centuries.
