WWE News: Long-Term Planning Sketched With The Great Balls Of Fire PPV 1

WWE came up with the idea of the Great Balls of Fire PPV following Wrestlemania 33. It will be the first time that an event will be conducted under the strange name. WWE Raw will be the brand to host it on July 9th at the American Airlines Center in Dallas, Texas. It came as a sudden replacement of the returning Bad Blood PPV.

Now, ever since the PPV was confirmed by the WWE, some major fan backlash was followed by the name. Plus, the logo of the event is somewhat which is not matched with the company PG gimmick. So, they had to alter it to a certain extent. Apart from all of this, WWE faced a trademark issue with the first released logo of the PPV, as well.

All of these were the reasons behind the speculation that this might be the first and the last time that the great Balls of Fire PPV will be hosted. But, a recent report from Jerry ‘The King’ Lawler stated something much different.

In the latest edition of the WWE Hall of Famer’s podcast named “Dinner With The King”, Jerry clarified that WWE has no intentions from pulling off this event from the PPV calendar in the upcoming years despite the negative reactions from the crowd. So, we will witness the return of this event for years to come from now.

To give an evidence of WWE’s recent activities Jerry has invited Jerry Jee Lewis III who is the son of original Jerry Jee Lewis and held the right from the blockbuster song called Great Balls of Fire. Previously, a lawsuit was issued against WWE due to the similarity between the logo of the released song and the PPV.

However, WWE was unmoved with the decision of conducting this PPV and contacted Jerry Lewis’ family to come to a settlement with it. Both parties had come to an agreement with it and there’s no legal matter with it. Rather, the company has earned the permission to use the original Great Balls of Fire song in the promotional videos of the PPV as well.

The main event of the PPV will be the Brock Lesnar’s first title defence since winning it at Wrestlemania 33. All the championships from the Raw brand will also be defended on the night.
