Prakash Bhatt, Milind Pradhan, Arman Malik, Rakesh Parikh and Shankar Saini are the five candidates who have been chosen by BCCI. The board will soon conduct the interview of these five aspirants before giving its final go.
This was the first time when BCCI invited for the post of Team Manager as earlier, a member was appointed to the post on tour to tour basis by BCCI.
However, after the news came that team manager did not have any role during the long home season, the COA took a note of it and asked only former first-class players to apply for the post.
It is to be noted that Saini, one of the aspirants for the post, was the team manager of Delhi side when there was a confrontation between Gautam Gambhir and Delhi coach KP Bhaskar at the end of the domestic season. As per the reports, Gambhir had a heated exchange with Bhaskar after Delhi failed to qualify for the second round of Vijay Hazare Trophy. Soon after the return to the state, both were called for an inquiry and a panel was set-up to inquire into the matter.

As a result of the findings, Gambhir was fined for four first-class matches but his punishment was suspended after he promised not to repeat the mistake again. Bhaskar though did not comment on the matter but told that his demands were not met.
